Alumni Stories: Heather ’07

This past June, Heather M. Stammler, Class of 2007, began her career as Change Control Manager for Rich Products. She is responsible for leading “effective and efficient plant changes” for the north region of North American manufacturing operations for Rich Products. She supervises the implementation of all change initiatives, ensuring necessary changes are made to minimize risk and financial impact to Rich Products and their customers. The C&L program prepared Heather by providing “endless tools on the most effective ways to lead people and communicate with all levels of the corporation,” making it her most valuable educational experience.

Heather chose Canisius for its small class sizes, professor accessibility and outstanding reputation. She says the choice was easy and she couldn’t have made a better one. The experience gave her a network of professionals that spans the globe and a group of lifelong friends. Not to mention, she says, when competing for new career opportunities, it’s given her a great advantage.

A customer experience manager at Rich Products Corporation, Stammler is an influential leader who promotes positive changes. She asks probing questions and uses intervention strategies to manage shifts in culture, get buy-in more quickly, and help associates overcome resistance to change. It’s work that allows Rich Products to move its corporate initiatives forward. And they’re skills she learned while earning her MS in Communication and Leadership at Canisius.

Heather graduated in 2007. And almost every day since, in every role she’s held, her job has required her to use the skills in leadership, negotiation, writing, public speaking, human resources, coaching, and organizational development that she learned here.
