On to the Next Adventure

These past two years I have had the absolute pleasure of being the GA for the Communication and Leadership program and a student in the program as well. What I have gathered over those two years is that this program has been and continues to be such a  transformative experience.

The Communication and Leadership program has taught me a wide range of skills, strategies, and tactics that can be used not only in the workplace but in my everyday life. I have learned about my leadership style, listening style, and how to resolve conflict in a successful way. I have learned about behaviors within organizations and how to implement change at the individual, team and organizational levels.  I have learned about the effects culture has on business and the basics of fundraising for not-for-profit organizations. This list could honestly go on and on because there is not a minute that went by where I was not learning.

This past year my classmates and I went through the capstone process, reading scholarly research, developing hypotheses, conducting our own research and analyzing it to figure out what it all means. Capstone in and of itself has been one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences and has taught me so much about myself. Mostly that I am capable of so much more than I thought I ever was.

But the most amazing gift this program has given me is the gift of and the support that comes with it. These last two years I have formed unbreakable bonds with my classmates and the faculty. These friendships are ones that I know will continue on even after we walk the stage at graduation next week and for that I am forever grateful.

I hope that reading this will remind you of your experiences with the program or for those who have just started, it will leave you excited for the journey ahead. So, today on my last day as the Graduate Assistant, I just want to say thank you and that this has been an unforgettable two years.

Now on to the next adventure!
